Compress PDF

Make a scanned or photo-heavy PDF smaller so it fits an upload limit. It runs in your browser and shows the size before and after.

Read this first: this tool turns each page into a compressed picture. Scans stay readable and get much smaller, but text in the file can no longer be selected or searched. Text-based PDFs may not shrink, and the tool tells you when the result is bigger.

How to use

  1. Choose the PDF.
  2. Pick medium quality first. If the result is still over your limit, choose Low or a smaller resolution and run it again on the original.
  3. Check the size shown and open the downloaded file to confirm it is readable.

Limits

Up to 80 pages per run. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. The original file is never changed; always compare with your upload limit and check legibility of stamps and small print. Forms and links in the PDF are flattened.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded? No. Pages are re-rendered and rebuilt in your browser.

Why did the file get bigger? The PDF was probably already text-based and efficient. Keep the original in that case.

Can I reach an exact size such as 200 KB? Not exactly. Try the quality and resolution options from High to Smallest until the size shown is under your limit.

Need only some pages? Extract the pages first, then compress.
